We had no sooner settled at our table and refreshments, when two familiar faces walked in.......Kerry and David who - for those Sunshine Coasters - will know as the owners of Cafe by the Beach! Amazing the people you meet. So quite a lively lunch catching up.
After lunch off to the Hall of Fame. Again, loads of remarkable history. Most of it is information boards around the displays. Way too much reading for my liking, but the displays were interesting. Be buggered if I could have survived the early settlement of the outback. Give me a comfy bed, and a Waeco fridge!
Luxury accommodation for the early pioneer?
This was interesting. The Furphy, was a water tank that was taken around from settlement to settlement, and the driver would relay stories and events and gossip from place to place, embellishing them as he went. Hence the term "a furphy" if it is a stretch of the truth!
