Longreach - QANTAS

Arrived at smoko time :) straight to town to the bakery...mmmmmmm! Walked a lap of the Main Street, then checked into the caravan park. Not a blade of grass to be seen! Man this place, to quote Dezziz, is "dry as a dead dingo's donga"!

Fist stop on the tourist trail is the QANTAS Museum to soak up some pioneering history and a chocolate milkshake! And happy days, our Old Farts Senior's card scores us twenty bucks off the admission!!!

The history of QANTAS and aviation is awe inspiring. The never give up attitude of those pioneers is amazing. When you see, and sit inside those very early planes, I think they must have been nuts.  We did a guided tour of the 707 that was once owned by an Arabian Sheik, and the Boeing 747. The facts and figures on the building of the 747 and the engineering to make it fly are mind boggling...well..to me anyway! The height of the plane at the tail is six stories, and from ground to cockpit is three stories high. It takes 150 tonnes of fuel! This plane is before computer systems, so the buttons, switches and dials in the cockpit are beyond comprehension! Nearly as many as Dezziz has in the Paj !

The only time we will ever sit in first class! The arms of the chairs even had ash trays! Hard to Maine smoking on a plane now!

Baby cots in first class!

How's this for a groovy kitchen Joel!

This was hilarious! Dezziz flying the plane! You would swear he was really flying it, he was so serious. And the look of concentration on landing was priceless! Very serious business!!!

Hard to imagine flying halfway across Queensland in this!

This plane was quite posh. It had a "thunder box" toilet on board, for your flying convenience???

Lovely comfy seats, and the toilet through that doorway! Can you image the smell by the end of the flight???

And this was your Airport Pick Up Service, to take you to town!
